I was so pleased to have finally gotten the call to music direct a show at my neighborhood theater, where I have worked as a sub and occasional accompanist for several years. When I signed the contract, I had no idea what a beautiful family I would be joining. Darlene and Sean were a dream to work with. Aside from their creativity and collaborative spirit, I was so pleased to find that both of them are teachers at the core, dedicated not only to the quality of their product, but to the growth and well-being of every member of the cast. The actors, in turn, were brave and beautiful in bringing this, my favorite musical, to life in the intimate Playhouse space. The family they created each night was an honest reflection of their warmth and humanity, and they were rewarded by the audience and critics, enjoying 40 sold out performances and rave reviews.
